Internships

Internship Programme
ECMI Kosovo regularly welcomes interns for three-month periods to contribute to the ongoing operations of the organisation, implementation of project activities and development of new projects. Interns are offered the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of minority rights and interethnic relations in Kosovo, especially in relation to the building of institutions at the central and municipal level, while gaining practical experience in the NGO sector.

From time to time, ECMI Kosovo may recruit interns for a longer period of time for support of particular projects or activities, which may require a specialised knowledge or experience. Such opportunities will be advertised on the website.

The Positions
The internship positions are unpaid (ECMI Kosovo is not in the position to cover travel or any other costs related to the internship). Internships are in the ECMI Kosovo Office in Pristina, Kosovo. Interns will participate in research and administration of ECMI Kosovo’s current and developing projects, under the direction of the responsible project manager.

Interns may be assigned to a particular project or may support activities within several projects. As a NGO based in a new and dynamic country, the work of ECMI Kosovo changes frequently based on government priorities, community needs and funding availability. While ECMI Kosovo will attempt to engage interns in the areas that best match their interests, interns are required to be flexible in their assignments whilst at ECMI Kosovo.

Intern Profile
Internships at ECMI Kosovo are aimed at graduate or recent graduate students with a background in social sciences, especially law, political science and sociology. Applicants are expected to have a particular interest in the Balkans and/or human rights and must have strong written and spoken communication skills in English. Knowledge of local languages (Albanian/Serbian/Turkish/Romani) is an asset.
