Mrs.
Zihnie Gurmani began working at ECMI Kosovo in October 2009. She is currently
engaged as Project Assistant in the UN Women/UNDP/EU-funded project ‘Promoting
the Economic Empowerment of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Women in Kosovo’ and
Technical Advisor in the UNICEF-funded project ‘Enhancing Access to and
Retention in Education for Vulnerable and Disadvantaged Children’.
Since
2010, she has contributed to the implementation of ECMI Kosovo projects
promoting the inclusion of children from the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian
communities in the education system, as well as capacity-building of municipal
officials to deliver education to these communities. Additionally, Mrs. Gurmani
has assisted the implementation and oversight of language courses organised by
ECMI Kosovo in the two official languages for municipal officials.
Before
joining ECMI Kosovo, Mrs. Gurmani worked with international organisations,
including the UN Mission in Kosovo. She graduated from Teachers Training College
in Prizren as an English Language teacher. She is also fluent in Albanian,
Turkish, and Serbian. Currently, she is studying a Masters on Inclusive
Education at the University of Prishtina.
